Getting to Lausanne

The closest airport to Lausanne is Geneva International Airport, (60 kilometres from Lausanne).

Transportation from Geneva International Airport to Lausanne (main station and city centre)

By train

The easiest way to get to Lausanne is by train. There are fast and frequent train connections between Geneva Airport and Lausanne (please see the full train timetable at https://www.sbb.ch/en). During day time, direct trains depart from Geneva Airport every 30 minutes (IC to St. Gallen or IR to Luzern), take about 46 minutes to reach Lausanne, and stop only once at Geneva Cornavin railway station.

You also have the possibility to buy « supersaver tickets » a month in advance (http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/tickets-for-switzerland/supersaver-tickets.html) . Please note that regular tickets are valid on any train, whereas supersaver tickets are only valid for the selected public transport connection and the selected date and time of travel.

By car

Lausanne can be reached via the motorway A1 from Geneva International Airport. Nevertheless, we do not recommend to drive to Lausanne by car as traffic can be heavy on the A1 between Geneva and Lausanne. Moreover, if you need to park your car in the city centre, please keep in mind that parking rates are very expensive and many hotels do not offer free or any parking at all (please check with your hotel). A taxi from Geneva International Airport to Lausanne usually costs around 200 Swiss Francs.

Important remark! There is only very few place to park at the University.

Transportation between Lausanne main station and the conference site (UNIL-Mouline)

The University of Lausanne can be easily reached by public transport. From Lausanne train station, take the M2 subway (direction « Croisettes ») to the stop « Lausanne Flon », and then the M1 subway (direction « Renens CFF »); stop at « UNIL-Chamberonne » (previously called « UNIL-Dorigny ») for Anthropole and at « UNIL-Mouline » for IDHEAP and Geopolis. From Renens train station, take the M1 subway (direction « Lausanne Flon »); stop at « UNIL-Chamberonne » for Anthropole and at « UNIL-Mouline » for IDHEAP and Geopolis.
